Overview
We are looking for a motivated Junior Network Administrator to join our data center operations team. This is a hands-on, physical infrastructure role based entirely on-site. You will work alongside senior engineers to maintain, troubleshoot, and expand our network environment across production data centers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rack, stack, and cable network equipment including switches, routers, patch panels, and fiber distribution units following data center standards and documentation
  • Terminate and test copper (Cat6/Cat6A) and fiber (single-mode and multi-mode) cabling, including LC, SC, and MPO/MTP connectors
  • Perform hardware replacements and upgrades on switches, transceivers (SFPs/QSFPs), and line cards with minimal disruption to production traffic
  • Maintain accurate physical layer documentation including port mappings, cable runs, and equipment inventory using DCIM tools
  • Assist with structured cabling projects including cable tray routing, label printing, and cable management within cabinets
  • Execute change tickets for patching, decommissions, and circuit provisioning under the direction of senior engineers
  • Monitor network hardware health via console and out-of-band management (IPMI, iDRAC, serial console servers) and escalate anomalies
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of the data center floor to visually inspect equipment status, indicator lights, and environmental conditions
  • Support cross-connects and meet-me room (MMR) work, coordinating with colocation staff and carriers for circuit turn-ups and demarcation testing
  • Assist with OTDR, light meter, and cable certifier testing to validate new and existing fiber and copper runs
  • Follow data center safety and change management procedures including lockout/tagout, proper ESD handling, and ticketing workflows

Experience & Qualifications

Required
  • 1–2 years of hands-on experience in a data center, NOC, or network infrastructure role (internships and lab experience considered)
  • Solid understanding of OSI model fundamentals, Ethernet, VLANs, and basic IP networking (subnetting, routing concepts)
  • Comfort working in a data center environment
  • Experience with structured cabling, patch work, and reading network diagrams and floor plans
  • Familiarity with Cisco/Arista/Cumulus or similar CLI environments at a basic configuration level
  • Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 75 lbs.), work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods
Preferred
  • CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent certification (or in progress)
  • Experience with common DCIM or ticketing platforms (ServiceNow, Nlyte, Device42, etc.)
  • Exposure to fiber optic testing tools (OTDR, VFL, optical power meter)
  • Familiarity with out-of-band management platforms (Opengear, Raritan, Vertiv)
Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site position. Work is performed entirely within a live production data center. Schedules may
