Overview
The Senior Revenue Accounting Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of revenue recognition and revenue accounting operations to ensure compliance with ASC 606, company policies, and regulatory requirements. This role provides strategic leadership for the revenue accounting function, manages the revenue team, and partners cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, FP&A, Operations, and Executive Leadership to support accurate financial reporting and scalable business growth. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capabilities, process improvement experience, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Recognition & Compliance- Lead and oversee the end-to-end revenue recognition process, ensuring full compliance with ASC 606 and company accounting policies across all revenue streams.
- Review complex customer contracts and revenue arrangements to determine proper accounting treatment and revenue timing.
- Monitor evolving accounting standards and regulatory guidance related to revenue recognition and assess the impact on current policies and practices.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close processes.
- Directly manage, mentor, and develop the Revenue Manager and revenue accounting team.
- Set clear performance goals, provide coaching and feedback, and foster professional growth and accountability within the team.
- Build scalable team processes and support organizational growth initiatives.
- Review and approve revenue journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by the revenue accounting team.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of revenue-related financial reporting.
- Prepare and present revenue performance reports, key metrics, and strategic insights to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support quarterly and annual financial statement preparation and disclosures related to revenue accounting.
- Establish, document, and enforce revenue accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure consistency, accuracy, and audit readiness.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors on all revenue-related matters.
- Coordinate audit requests, provide supporting documentation, and ensure timely resolution of audit findings and inquiries.
- Drive compliance with SOX and internal control requirements where applicable.
- Partner closely with Sales and Legal teams to review contract terms and provide proactive revenue impact assessments prior to deal execution.
- Collaborate with FP&A to deliver revenue forecasts, trend analysis, variance commentary, and reporting that support executive decision-making and board presentations.
- Work with Operations, Billing, and IT teams to improve revenue data integrity and reporting accuracy.
- Lead system and process improvement initiatives related to revenue operations, including ERP configurations, automation, workflow enhancements, and reporting improvements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline revenue accounting processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Support implementation and optimization of revenue recognition systems and reporting tools.
Experience & Qualifications
Required- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant focus on revenue recognition and ASC 606 compliance.
- 3+ years of leadership or management experience within revenue accounting.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, ASC 606, and revenue accounting principles.
- Experience working in SaaS, technology, telecommunications, or high-growth environments preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar financial platforms.
- Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
- CPA certification strongly preferred.
- Strong technical accounting and analytical skills

Compensation
- Full-Time, Exempt
- $160,000-$200,000/year, DOE
