Overview
STN is hiring a Senior Project Accountant to own project, contract, and revenue accounting across our professional services, managed services, and GPU-as-a-Service (GPU One) businesses. You'll sit at the center of the contract-to-cash lifecycle, making sure what we sign, what we deliver, what we bill, and what we recognize all line up. It's a hands-on role with real scope, well suited to someone who wants to build durable process in a business that is scaling quickly.
Key Responsibilities
Contract and Revenue Accounting- Review new and amended customer contracts for accounting and billing implications, including milestones, acceptance provisions, variable consideration, credits, and other nonstandard terms
- Apply ASC 606 across multi-element arrangements spanning recurring service, one-time onboarding, and hardware resale, including gross versus net presentation
- Own deferred revenue, unbilled revenue, and contract backlog schedules, and reconcile remaining performance obligations to recognized revenue and billings
- Own billing readiness controls and identify revenue leakage: unbilled delivery, incorrect rates, missed recurring charges, unprocessed contract changes, and out-of-scope work
- Maintain project records in the ERP, including budgets, billing terms, rate tables, and revenue recognition method by engagement
- Own work-in-process schedules, calculate percentage-of-completion revenue on fixed-fee engagements, and validate time-and-materials billing
- Track labor, subcontractor, and pass-through costs to the correct project and phase, and investigate mischarges and unallocated time
- Produce monthly project margin, utilization, and recurring revenue reporting, flagging engagements and contracts trending against budget or scope
- Own revenue recognition for long-term GPU capacity contracts, including committed capacity, usage and burst billing, ramp schedules, and SLA credit exposure
- Track site-level cost of revenue (power, colocation, network, and facility costs) and allocate it across contracts and sites
- Support construction-in-progress and capex tracking on active buildouts, including placed-in-service dates and the handoff to depreciation
- Maintain serial-level asset registers for GPU and compute nodes with Infrastructure and Technical Operations, covering transfers, RMAs, retirements, and disposals
- Reconcile high-volume vendor and colocation invoices to contracts, purchase orders, and asset receipts, and monitor open purchase commitments
- Execute assigned month-end and quarter-end close activities: journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and flux analysis on project and contract balances
- Prepare revenue and cost-of-revenue schedules supporting management, sponsor, and lender reporting
- Serve as a primary preparer for external audit and diligence requests covering revenue, WIP, deferred revenue, and fixed assets
- Monitor data quality across the ERP, billing, procurement, and asset systems that feed accounting, and improve process and controls as the business scales
- Serve as the accounting subject-matter expert on complex projects and contracts, advising Sales, Legal, Operations, and Procurement before issues reach billing or close
- Lead recurring financial reviews with project and operational leadership on contract performance, margin risk, billing issues, and financial exposure
- Escalate material financial, accounting, contract, or control risks to the Controller and Finance leadership
