Overview
The Technical Revenue Accounting Manager is a newly created individual contributor role supporting STN’s growing GPU infrastructure business and related revenue streams. This position performs complex revenue and lessor accounting analyses, develops technical accounting and policy recommendations for the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager’s review, and translates approved conclusions into practical billing, system, close, and reporting requirements.

The ideal candidate combines strong ASC 606 and ASC 842 lessor accounting expertise with sound judgment, clear communication, and hands-on NetSuite experience. The role provides technical review and coaching without direct reports. The Senior Revenue Accounting Manager directs priorities and reviews significant accounting judgments, policy recommendations, and proposed process changes before further approval or implementation, as applicable.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Accounting & Contract Review
  • Perform technical reviews of GPU, dedicated infrastructure, hosting, and related service arrangements under ASC 606 and ASC 842; develop recommendations for the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager’s review and support complex managed services, professional services, and resale matters as needed.
  • Partner with Sales, Sales Operations, Legal, Finance, and technical teams before contract execution to assess bundled deals, new offerings, pricing structures, and nonstandard terms; recommend changes for review through established approval workflows.
  • Assess identified assets, substitution rights, customer control, lease classification, commencement, purchase options, and modifications from the lessor perspective.
  • Evaluate performance obligations, acceptance and termination provisions, recognition timing, variable consideration, SLA credits, concessions, significant financing components, and principal-versus-agent presentation.
  • Prepare concise technical memos documenting contract facts, authoritative guidance, key judgments, proposed conclusions, unresolved evidence, and recommended accounting actions for the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager’s review.

Accounting Policies & Standalone Selling Prices
  • Research new transactions and relevant accounting developments; draft revenue and lessor accounting policies, implementation guidance, and proposed updates for the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager’s review.
  • Recommend SSP determination and reassessment cadence for review; perform analyses for existing and new offerings using relevant pricing data and supported estimation methods under the approved process.
  • Prepare lease and service component analyses and allocation models, including recommendations for applicable component-combination elections, for the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager’s review.

Systems & Operational Implementation
  • Translate approved accounting conclusions into NetSuite and Advanced Revenue Management setup instructions, revenue and lease schedules, journal entries, and reconciliation requirements; validate initial implementation and significant changes.
  • Review Salesforce and NetSuite order data for consistency with executed contracts and approved accounting treatment; partner with operational owners to resolve contract, billing, and revenue discrepancies across the order-to-cash cycle.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to system requirements, data flows, validation checks, and automation; support implementation of approved changes.

Close, Audit & Financial Reporting
  • Support monthly close through preparation or technical review of complex revenue and lease schedules, journal entries, revenue-related GL reconciliations, and flux analyses; investigate judgmental deferred and unbilled balances, deposits, and credits.
  • Support technical revenue and lease audit matters under the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager’s oversight, preparing analyses and coordinating requests with the revenue, billing, and finance teams.
  • Support preparation and review of revenue and lessor disclosures for applicable annual and interim financial statements, ensuring consistency with accounting policies and underlying records.
  • Partner with operational teams to obtain executed contracts, acceptance evidence, asset assignments, commencement confirmations, and other support required for billing, accounting, and audit readiness.

Controls & Technical Leadership
  • Develop standardized review checklists, accounting models, memo templates, and proposed control improvements for review; maintain approved documentation and traceable support.
  • Review team members’ analyses and coach them to research issues, evaluate alternatives, document supported conclusions, and exercise independent judgment.
  • Communicate approved accounting conclusions clearly to leadership and nonfinancial teams; coordinate deliverables across deal reviews, new offerings, close, and audit deadlines based on priorities set by the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager.
